We as human beings can’t begin to fathom the love of God. How many times have I felt like I really blew it— God must be disgusted with me now. But the amazing thing I’m finally getting a grip on is this: God does not think like humans do. He doesn’t love or hate or judge like we do. No, not even close. Listen to this: “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55: 8,9
What prompted the Lord to say this to the prophet Isaiah? Well, just listen to the words that come right before the above verse: ” Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the Lord, and He will have love, pity, and mercy for him, and to our God, for He will multiply to him His abundant pardon.” Isaiah 55:7
If you have had an abortion, dear reader, or have been involved in the decision to have one regarding a close person in your life, do not think it is all over between you and God! That is exactly what the evil one, satan, wants you to think! There is absolutely nothing that can stand between you and the God who loves you with every bit of His immense heart. After all, He died in your place to save you from the consequences of your sins, including abortion. Yes, the life of an innocent child was snuffed out before they had a chance to live on this earth, but they they have not ceased to exist. The Bible teaches that children before the age of understanding have a special connection to God the Father. Jesus told us, “I tell you that in heaven their angels always are in the presence of and look upon the face of My Father Who is in heaven” Matt. 18:10. These precious ones go straight into the presence of God to live forever in heaven with Him! Your sweet child is alive with Him, right now.
Dear one, whatever your reason for an abortion was, you can be forgiven and washed absolutely clean in the blood of Jesus! Don’t hesitate any more. Come to the Father in Jesus name. Ask Him to forgive your sins. Ask Jesus to wash you in His blood shed for you on Calvary. This is the reason He died! He loves you so! God knew YOU before you were born, and He knows your child. He thought you up, and created YOU, because He wanted YOU to exist! He is so in love with you! You are unique. If you turn away from God because you can’t believe He would ever forgive you, you deny God the love relationship He wants to have with you! Please don’t do that! God’s heart yearns for you.
There is a book I hope you will read, if you haven’t already. The title is Tilly, by Frank Peretti. You can get a used one on Amazon for a penny. I read this years ago. It is the story of a mother and child separated by abortion, but reunited. It is the story of complete forgiveness, healing and joy. It is for anyone who has lost a child before their time.
Accept the love, the forgiveness, the cleansing of our loving God. Then, forgive yourself! This is very important. Don’t give satan grounds to come back and put guilt and condemnation on you again. If he does try to come back, and he will, say out loud 1 John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” That includes abortion. God also says He will toss our sins away, as far as east is from west, to be remembered no more! Think of that! What love! God the Father gave His own Son, Jesus, up to die. But that was to save YOU! It was the only way to balance His perfect holiness with His infinite love for you. His holy and perfect Son was the only One, the innocent lamb, who could take our place, the debt we owed for our sin. That debt is now paid! You now have the right and privilege to go into His heaven when you die. And to be reunited with your sweet baby who is waiting over there for you. Don’t worry! There are no more tears in heaven! There is only love and warmth and forgiveness and joy,
Never underestimate the incredible love and forgiveness of our God. His ways are far above our ways. He is ready and is willing to forgive you if you just come to Him. I promise! The past is past. He wants you to go forth from now on living in victory and in joy. We all go through some very tough, even shattering lessons in this life. The real tragedy comes when we don’t learn anything from them. Let it rather teach us and change us. Run into the forgiving arms of Jesus! He is waiting for you right now!
